Why We Don't Bill by the Hour.
Hourly billing rewards slowness. It penalizes clients for asking questions, rewards studios for inefficiency, and turns every mid-project conversation into a negotiation about the meter. We refuse to work that way.
Every project gets a fixed scope and fixed price before we start writing code. If we underestimate a task, that's our problem — not yours. If we find a faster way to solve something, you still pay the agreed amount. Speed becomes our incentive, not a threat to our revenue.
The only exceptions are ongoing engagements like maintenance retainers and staff augmentation, which are billed monthly because there's no fixed endpoint. Everything else gets a written quote with a defined deliverable list.

Feature Complexity
A static contact form is trivial. A real-time notification system with delivery tracking isn't. Complex features multiply effort more than most clients expect — we flag this during scoping.
Third-Party Integrations
Every external system we connect to (payment gateways, ERPs, CRMs, shipping providers) adds testing surface area. Well-documented APIs are fast. Legacy SOAP endpoints are not.
Data Migration
Importing data from spreadsheets or old systems is often 20% of a project's total effort. Messy data doubles that. We always audit the source before quoting.
Design Depth
Custom design systems with a full component library cost more than a lean interface. We quote both options so you can decide what matters.
Timeline Pressure
Rush jobs require parallel workstreams and after-hours coordination. We charge a premium for compressed timelines and pass savings back when we have room to breathe.

How Payments Are Structured.
Projects
Milestone-based
Fixed-scope projects pay in three milestones aligned to delivery — kick-off, UAT, and handover. No upfront full payment.
Retainers
Monthly in advance
Ongoing work is invoiced on the 1st of each month. Cancel anytime with 30 days' notice — no long-term lock-in.
Augmentation
Per-engineer monthly
Billed the same as a full-time hire would be, but without recruitment costs, benefits, or long-term commitments.

Can I see a sample proposal before committing?+
Yes — after the discovery call we send a sample proposal template so you can see the level of detail we provide. Full proposals are custom-built but share the same structure.
What if the project costs more than I expect?+
We flag budget mismatch during the discovery call — before writing a proposal. If the scope you want exceeds your budget, we'll suggest what to cut, phase, or defer.
Do you offer discounts?+
Yes for nonprofits, educational institutions, and long-term retainers. We don't discount for vague timelines or "future work" promises — those arrangements rarely work out.
What happens if we exceed the quoted scope?+
Change Requests are documented with cost and timeline impact. You approve before we proceed. Small tweaks under 4 hours are absorbed — larger ones are billed transparently at our published rate.
Do you take equity instead of cash?+
Rarely, and only for founders we've worked with before. For first-time engagements, we invoice normally. If you think there's a fit, mention it during the discovery call.
